John Boyne was born in Dublin in 1971.
In Dublin he studied English Literature at the Trinity College and creative writing at the University of East Anglia in Norwich, where he got the Curtis Brown prize.
Formerly he has mostly written short stories.
Altogether he has published about 70 short stories.
He has written seven novels:
2000-The thief of time
2001-The congress of rough riders
2004-Crippen
2006-Next of kin
2006-The boy in the striped pyjamas
2008-Mutiny on the Bounty
2009- The house of special purpose
His novel "The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas" was made into a Miramax film and got an movie award. The novel won 2 Irish Book Awards, the Bisto Book of the year and won a lots of international awards. Worldwide, it has been sold more than 5 million times.
His novels are published in 42 languages.
